Director of Product

StoryFit is an Austin-based startup that uses machine learning and NLP to produce actionable data that is changing the way publishing and entertainment clients acquire, develop, and drive growth for their IP. 

We’re looking for an Austin-based Director of Product to lead our product strategy and continue to grow and improve our product offerings. It is the Director of Product’s job to proactively understand customers’ needs and be able to envision and test next-gen AI product development. You’ll report to the CEO and work closely with the CTO to ensure product strategy is being executed across the company.

  • Develop and drive the execution of StoryFit’s product vision and strategy
  • Take a leadership role in socializing the product vision, working directly with our CTO as well as engineering, sales, support, and leadership to deliver that vision
  • Build and maintain a highly strategic product roadmap that will prioritize and serve the demands of a multitude of cross-functional organizations within the Publishing and Media & Entertainment Verticals
  • Craft a deep and up-to-date understanding of StoryFit’s business strategy, and ensure that the product strategy aligns with and supports it
  • Thrive in a customer-facing approach, uncovering opportunities within the marketplace in order to improve the product
  • Rigorously gather and compile customer feedback to and strategize how to incorporate suggestions into our products
  • Produce mockups for product ideas in tandem with our CEO and CTO — design skills are a plus!
  • Prioritize projects and products for development sprints in collaboration with our CTO and Director of Engineering
  • 5+ years in a product management role, ideally selling to enterprise customers
  • Experience working in media and entertainment is required — ideally in feature films
  • Experience working with early to late stage start-ups 
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and translating market and customer behavior into real product requirements
  • Experience with data analytics or business intelligence platforms preferred
  • Experience in publishing is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to present and defend your ideas to other key members, including partners and customers
  • Ability to prioritize among competing opportunities, balance internal client needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions
  • Creative, collaborative thinker with an ability to learn new things, assess problems and identify proactive solutions quickly
  • Self-starter, comfortable leading change and getting things done
